Northumberland county elementary schools are all set for another great year of literacy racing! The Northumberland Literacy Committee together with corporate sponsor, Cobourg Honda and charitable donors The Cobourg Rotary Club, the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board’s Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) and the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland Clarington Catholic District School Board, are launching the second annual Great Literacy Race in Northumberland on Wednesday, January 27, 2010.

COBOURG – A local group is fired up about literacy, and it’s not just about books.
The Great Literacy Race, a project of the Northumberland Literacy committee, begins Tuesday, Jan. 27, with a 6:30 p.m. launch party at Cobourg District Collegiate Institute East, on King Street East.

Literacy Poster Says It All
NORTHUMBERLAND – The Great Literacy Race is off and running with a poster by a Grade 12 student.
Kristen Hooey created the winning poster in a Northumberland Literacy Committee contest, sponsored by Jim Proskos of Cobourg Honda. The contest was open to all secondary school students.
